Welcome Message to the 2020 YWS Camp & Smart Sister Workshop.

On behalf of the Association of Korean Woman Scientists and Engineers (KWSE), I would like to extend our warmest welcome to all of you to the 2020 KWSE/APNN International Young Woman Scientist (YWS) Camp & Smart Sister Workshop which will be held from November 4 to 6, by online and hybrid in Korea. Under the theme of “YES (Young Women Engineers and Scientist), we are the future of Asia! - Let’s lead the new normal”, this year’s event is designed in two ways, online and in-person for you to experience virtual international camp due to the recent change in our environment.

Since 2012, the YWS camp has been held annually for next-generation women scientists and engineers to strengthen their global capacities, exchange research information, and share cultural experiences. Along with the annual YWS Camp, participants of Smart Sister Program operated by KWSE since 2013 have gathered at Smart Sister Workshop to talk about their stories and learn wisdom for life and research in Korea. Especially the 2020 YWS Camp & Smart Sister Workshop will connect young scholars in STEM all over the world and be a great opportunity to expand perspective in life and research while meeting great mentors, sharing academic knowledge, experiencing other cultures, and exploring Korean science and technology labs.

I hope you make the most out of the 2020 YWS Camp & Smart Sister Workshop, the platform for communicating and learning for next-generation women scientists and engineers for a better understanding of each other.

I appreciate your participation and look forward to connecting you all.

Thank you very much.

Hyo-Suk Lim, Ph.D.
President of KWSE
